Australia’s oldest and best known wine region, the Barossa Valley is a warm climate region famous for its bold Shiraz wines. It has has some of the world’s oldest Shiraz vines, which are protected in a heritage vine register. There is wide variation in the ancient soils but all are of low fertility and, together with old vines and often dry and hot conditions, produce fruit of great concentration. Low yields allowed the vines to cope with the dry and  warm season and to produce intensely flavoured fruit. The fruit was fermented in overhead fermenters with pumping over and some heading down boards. The wine was aged for 15 months in a mix of old and new American and German oak hogsheads.
Tasting Notes: This wine is deeply coloured and has complex fruit cake and berry fruit aromas and a full flavoured but soft palate finished with a firm tannin grip. Serve with lamb any way you like it – roasted, barbecued or stewed.
Varietal: 100% Shiraz
